Industrial & Hydraulic Oils

Industrial lubricants cover a wide range of equipment, from hydraulic presses and excavators to compressors, chillers and food processing lines. The right fluid depends on the system type, operating temperature and the standards the equipment maker defines.

Hydraulic oils. Most mineral hydraulic oils are classified under ISO 6743 as HL, HM (also written HLP) or HV (HVLP). HM oils add anti-wear additives for pumps under load. HV oils add viscosity-index improvers so the oil stays stable across a wide temperature range, which suits mobile equipment working outdoors. The ISO VG number, for instance VG 46 or VG 68, is the viscosity in centistokes at 40 degrees Celsius and should match the pump manufacturer's recommendation.

Food-grade lubricants. Where incidental contact with food is possible, equipment owners typically look for lubricants registered for that use, such as NSF H1. Check the registration on the product data sheet instead of assuming it from the product type.

Refrigeration oils. Compressor oils must be compatible with the refrigerant in the system. Mineral, alkylbenzene, POE and PAG oils are not interchangeable, so confirm the type with the compressor maker before topping up or changing.
