Total Carter EP 220
An ISO VG 220 mineral gear oil for enclosed industrial gearboxes
Carter EP 220 from Total is a mineral gear oil for enclosed gearboxes under heavy duty. It is used on bevel, spur and worm gears, as well as bearings and gear couplings. Its extreme-pressure additives protect under high loads and where micropitting is a risk (FZG micropitting class 10, high).
The formulation resists oxidation and breakdown, which extends oil and gearbox life. It is compatible with seals, protects against rust and corrosion, including on copper alloys, and limits foaming and emulsions.

- OEM approvals from SEW, Flender, Zollern, ZF, Nord Getriebe, Bonfiglioli, CMD Gears, DB Santasalo and others
Choosing the right oil
Use it when the gearbox builder asks for an ISO VG 220 CLP oil. Check the viscosity grade on the gearbox plate, and note that gearboxes whose maker requires a synthetic oil need a different product. Drain and flush before switching from a different oil type.
