A UTTO oil for tractor transmissions, hydraulics and wet brakes

Shell Spirax S4 TXM is a SAE 10W-30 multi-purpose tractor oil (UTTO) for agricultural machinery and earthmoving equipment. One oil covers the gearbox, the hydraulic system, wet brakes and attached implements, and its additive package is designed for smooth running from a cold start to hot, heavy work.

Where it is used

  • Transmissions on tractors and earthmoving machines
  • Heavily loaded hydraulics
  • Wet brakes, where friction modifiers give a quiet, smooth action

Properties

  • Protects against wear, oxidation and corrosion
  • Good low-temperature behaviour, so hydraulics and transmission respond quickly after a cold start
  • Tested and approved by manufacturers such as ZF, CNH, Massey Ferguson and John Deere

Key data

  • SAE 10W-30, viscosity index 138
  • Viscosity 60 mm²/s at 40 °C and 9.4 mm²/s at 100 °C
  • Density 882 kg/m³ at 15 °C, flash point 220 °C, pour point -42 °C

Specifications (per manufacturer)

ZF TE-ML 21F, 17E, 06R, 06N, 06M, 06K, 06D, 05F, 03L and 03E; Volvo Transmission Oil 97303:015 and WB 101; Massey Ferguson M1145 and M1143; John Deere JDM J20C; Case New Holland MAT-3525; API GL-4. It is recommended for certain Komatsu machines, suits Dana-Spicer mechanical transmissions and can replace Allison C-4 fluids.

Choosing the right oil

Choose it when the operator manual lists a UTTO oil with one of the codes above. Check the manual before using it on older machines.
