Choosing the right oil

Type F fluids are not interchangeable with Dexron or Type A fluids. Choose this one only when the handbook or the transmission tag says Type F or quotes one of the Ford codes above, and use it where a friction-modified fluid is explicitly not wanted. Kroon-Oil names as typical uses classic Ford (USA and EU) models, classic British Leyland models and Volvos with a BorgWarner transmission.

If you are unsure which fluid your gearbox was filled with, identify the transmission first; mixing fluid types is a common cause of harsh or slipping shifts on older boxes.
