Choosing the right oil
Choose this grade when you want firmer damping, for competition use or a car or bike that is set up for hard driving. A heavier fluid gives more resistance to movement, so the same shock will feel firmer and slower to react.
That firmness is not always a gain. On a road car with standard springs and dampers, a fluid that is too heavy can make the ride harsh and reduce grip on rough surfaces. If the handbook or the damper builder names a specific viscosity, follow it; if you simply want a sportier feel from a damper that is happy with a medium oil, the Classic Shock Oil 32 may be the better first step.
Drain and refill according to the damper maker's procedure, and use clean containers to avoid contaminating the fluid.
