Choosing the right oil
SAE 50 is the heaviest of the Pistoneeze oils and is a straight-weight choice for classic engines whose handbook specifies it. A pour point of -12 °C makes it a fair-weather oil: it is for cars that are used in the warmer months and put away for winter, not for a car that must start on a frosty morning.
If your engine can take a multigrade and you want more flexibility in cold weather, Millers' own Classic Sport 20W-50 or Kroon-Oil Classic Multigrade 20W-50 are the nearest alternatives.
As with the other Pistoneeze grades, Millers Oils advises care in vintage engines where the sump may hold deposits that a detergent oil could loosen.
