Eurol Marine Grease EP 2/3
A water-resistant grease for propeller shafts and bearings on board
Eurol Marine Grease, grade EP 2/3, is a brown, mineral-oil grease with a calcium-lithium thickener, made for use on boats and ships. The mixed soap gives a balance of water resistance and mechanical stability, which suits stern tubes, shaft bearings and other lubrication points on board.
The grease works in fresh and salt water, is gentle on seals and pumps easily in standard grease pumps. It keeps rust, wear and oxidation at bay for a long time.
Key data
- NLGI consistency 2-3, thickener calcium-lithium, mineral base oil
- Base oil with a viscosity of 465 cSt
- Operating temperature -20 °C to +120 °C, dropping point 180 °C
- Flash point 150 °C, density 0.92 kg/l at 20 °C
- 4-ball weld load 320 kg
Applying it
Pump it in until fresh grease appears at the seal or relief point, and top up at the interval the equipment maker gives.
Choosing the right grease
Choose a grease like this where parts are splashed or submerged and a wash-out resistant film matters. Check the grade the equipment builder specifies, since some stern-tube systems and propeller shaft seals call for a particular NLGI class or a particular type of grease. Do not mix it with greases that have a different thickener unless compatibility is confirmed.
