Semi-synthetic 20W-50 for high-performance classic engines

Millers Classic Sport 20W50 is a semi-synthetic SAE 20W-50 multigrade engine oil for high-performance classic engines. It is formulated with improved performance additives and viscosity-index improvers that work with both synthetic and mineral base oils.

The formulation contains full ZDDP (zinc/phosphorus). It comes in 1 L, 5 L, 20 L and 60 L.

Key properties

  • Grade: SAE 20W-50 multigrade, semi-synthetic, API SJ
  • Viscosity: 157 cSt at 40 °C, 18.1 cSt at 100 °C, viscosity index 128
  • Density 0.885 at 15 °C, pour point below -15 °C, flash point above 200 °C
  • Cold-crank viscosity 9,500 cP max
  • High proportion of synthetic base fluids for extra protection at high load and temperature
  • Described as maintaining high oil pressure and reducing oil consumption

Choosing the right oil

This is the step up from an ordinary mineral 20W-50. Millers Oils names Aston Martin, Jaguar, Ferrari, Lotus and similar high-specific-output engines as the best match, and also owners who simply want a higher-grade oil for a classic engine.

In choosing between the two Classic Sport oils, the 20W-50 is the one for most uses, while the 20W-60 is for engines that need extra protection compared with a 20W-50, such as tuned or competition engines. If you are unsure, start with what the engine handbook names.

If your engine is freshly rebuilt, stay on a mineral running-in oil until the running-in period is over; semi-synthetic is for after that.
