Choosing the right oil
The two numbers matter: 10W is the thinner cold rating, 30 is the hot rating. This is the thinnest of the Classic Multigrade oils, so it is the sensible pick when the handbook calls for 10W-30 specifically and for engines that need easy cold starts. If the manual asks for 15W-40 or 20W-50, choose the grade it names rather than going thinner as a general rule.
A multigrade is the better all-season option than a straight monograde. It is also described as not loosening old deposits, so it is workable in an engine that has run on a mineral oil for years.
Check the manual for the exact grade before you order.
